About Monica

I’m Monica Purdy, a lifelong Democrat and currently an Associate Judge for the State Civil District Courts. I appreciate the opportunity to submit my name for this very critical position and want to thank you for serving as a precinct chair.

I believe that when you evaluate each candidate, you will find that I am most qualified to serve as our party’s nominee for the 162nd District Court. There is no other candidate that has the first hand, on the job experience that I possess. Every day for the past three and a half years, I’ve presided over hundreds of court cases as judge in 7 of the 13 civil district courts, including cases in the 162nd Court.

The thirteen civil district court judges, elected by you and the citizens of Dallas County, selected me out of a pool of hundreds of applicants to preside in their absence on a daily basis, as one of the two Associate Judges. Their trust in my ability to serve the citizens of Dallas County is something I take very seriously and I’m honored to maintain that trust each and every day that I serve.

This past year, I received the 3rd highest ranking in a judicial evaluation poll of the 13 Civil and 2 Associate Judges conducted by the Dallas Bar Association, with attorneys appearing before our courts. My understanding and application of the law as well as my professional and unbiased ability to serve the court has been tried and proven by colleagues on both sides of the bench.

Prior to my appointment with the county, I served for three years as an Associate Municipal Court Judge for the City of Dallas, bringing me to a total of 6 years of Judicial experience. Before serving as a Judge, I worked for over 20 years as an attorney, rising to a partner with Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson and later launching a successful solo practice.

With my reputation throughout the legal community, I am confident in my ability to raise the money necessary to both contribute to the Dallas County Coordinated Campaign and fund a successful campaign election effort on our party’s behalf. Over the years, I’ve volunteered for mayoral, senate and judicial democratic candidates.

Judge Phyllis Lister Brown was a mentor, colleague and more importantly a friend. We served three years together as Municipal Judges and she informed me about the Associate Judge position when it became open, encouraging me to apply.

I am honored to be considered as a candidate for the 162nd District Court and to carry on the great legacy that she left behind. I look forward to visiting with each and every one of you. I am available to you at (214) 783-2696.
